Perhaps it's more that if you work only on one layer, you only remove part of the blemish, as each layer only represents part of the image. The retouch module does a decomposition of the image, with each layer representing a different "scale" of detail. And this is visible in your corrected image: yes, the sign is still there, but _unsharp_, i.e. you removed a part from the blemish: the high-frequency details It's a bit as if you work on only one colour layer: you can remove the blemish in the red channel, but it will still be visible in the green and blue layers, so it will be visible in the final image. ____________________________________________________________________________ darktable user mailing list to unsubscribe send a mail to [email protected]
