Hi everyone, I'm currently thinking about putting together a new (Linux) PC with special attention to being a workhorse for darktable.
A fast SSD and enough RAM being a given, I'm not sure which graphics card to get. What's the current thinking on what to get? Specifically, I have the following questions: * Which works better in Linux - Nvidia or AMD? * Which drivers work (best) for using OpenCL in darktable? Are the open-source drivers okay or do I need the binary drivers from AMD or Nvidia? * If binary, which are best/most stable/fastest? * Is it worth getting a high-end card (say 5700 XT for AMD or 2080 SUPER for Nvidia)? * Are the performance differences in darktable noticable, compared to a card that is one or two steps down from that - especially when you consider the rather larger amount of money I'd have to pay for it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Chris -- Nothing to see here. Move along. ____________________________________________________________________________ darktable user mailing list to unsubscribe send a mail to [email protected]
