My problem with the original post in this conversation is that of being confused/mislead by the term 'text window' - which I took to be a 'window' (in the sense of an application window) presented by a text application. My version of Linux Mint 20 names the 'command prompt' (Windows terminology) as 'terminal' . I also see 'how to' articles on the net directing me to 'open a terminal session', so I assume this 'terminal' terminology is common and saw it as quite different to a text window. Apologies for the incompetence - I'm just a typical laowai.

Patrick, Please be careful how you word some of your replies. Be gentle with people who have less computer skills than yourself. It reminds me of when I tried to teach my wife how to do something on a computer and I told her to right click, when she failed to do this I raised my voice and said right click, after numerous failed attempts on my part to get her to do a right click she turned to me and said, 'what the hell is a wrong click!'

I really appreciate the advice and help you give people here. I can understand your frustration when someone is trying to work with Linux and does not understand what a text window is.

take care
Terry
