If you select the frame you’ll see a „working indicator“. I suppose, you have waveform histogram enabled. You need to start rescaling after this indicator disappears. Known issue see: https://github.com/darktable-org/darktable/issues/7307, https://github.com/darktable-org/darktable/issues/7713 There’s no solution but faster hardware yet….
