Keep in mind, that the basecurve is meant to delinearize camera RAW files... This is often implicit/non-modifyable in other programs. We just expose it like a discrete modifyable step. This has no relevance with non camera RAW files... So if you have an sRGB or AdobeRGB TIFF scan, it's not relevant...
