No problem. The re-export of the jpg will have the same name so the 
approach is:

1) Quit Digikam,
2) Re-export in Darktable
3) Move and overwrite the jpg files to the where the old jpg was.
4) Start Digikam
5) Tell Digikam to overwrite metadata info from the database to the 
re-exported jpg files.
