...and nobody is trying to take that away from you. It just isn't a consideration for some people; selling giant prints is a completely alien concept to me... and you can create a small jpg from anything. :) > Raw files are not massive in size and compare in storage with a full sized > 100% jpg. This, again, is a subjective thing. They're an order of magnitude larger than my final JPEGs in my case, and this is a consideration for me, while I can easily see how it isn't for other people who's priorities are different. These days there is a large grey area between serious, professional photographers who would never part with their RAWs and people who don't understand what a RAW format is, and cameras are being produced for this market. I personally think this is a good thing. But it makes for a wide variety of use cases. > One of the strengths of darktable is the ability to apply a style over a > large number of images that have commonality, this allows at least 'base > processing' to be done extreemly efficiently even over hundreds of > images being imported from a days work; I completely agree with you here - it's one of the primary motivations for me to make darktable work for my use case, rather than use other RAW developing options. But I can also understand how someone else's way of doing things might make this an unimportant feature. Not everyone processes large numbers of similar pictures. All of which is to say: there is diversity in what people are trying to do. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Rapidly troubleshoot problems before they affect your business.
