Dear all,

thank you for your replies -- very informative and much appreciated.

It seems DT is more suitable for "geeky" users -- users with at least some
linux/unix background?

I have done some searching during the weekend and I think the editing
capabilities of DT are far more than I ever need. What I am not totally
convinced yet is that how DT as a photo manager compares to iPhoto, Picasa
or Lightroom.

The best way to figure it out is of course to start using it for a while
and see it for myself. However the choice of workflow can result in a lot
of pain if done wrong. For example, all the metainfo I did in Picasa cannot
be used in iPhoto, so I have my photos in Picasa *and* iPhoto. Now that
apple has announced that they ditch iPhoto and Aperture, it's really the
time to switch from iPhoto to something else. (But I don't want to switch
from osx to linux yet).

If someone had used another photo manager before switching to DT, can you
briefly comment on pros and cons of DT as a photo manager?

Regards,
Tony
