The user manual backs this experience: http://www.darktable.org/usermanual/ch03s04s03.html.php What does me disturb is the behavior with destination lightness. By default all channels are on zero, but if I increase for example by a tiny bit (0,005), a get a nearly black image, boosting the value more, brings the image. Double-clicking sets the value two 1, but this isn't the default, it's zero.
