One or more of the developers will have to answer this, but... I would guess that something has changed in 1.6.3 reading of the xmp files that were generated with 1.4. That should not be a problem for the photos already in your library as I believe the library contains the xmp data and can regenerate it for you. Just for "Peace of Mind" I would gz subject xmp files and the old library for a period of time. The library structure changed from 1.4 -> 1.6.x and is not backward compatable. I personally prefer darktable from git using the packages created Togan Muftuoglu at http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/toganm:/photography and have been using them for > year (if memory serves) with very vew problems. Note: If you choose this route, keep a backup copy of your ~/.config/darktable/library.db as later versions of darktable introduce changes to the library that are not backward compatable. gud luk, -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Dive into the World of Parallel Programming The Go Parallel Website, sponsored by Intel and developed in partnership with Slashdot Media, is your hub for all things parallel software development, from weekly thought leadership blogs to news, videos, case studies, tutorials and more.
