Hi,
Setup/Usage scenario:
Pictures are stored on a server, accesible via gigabit ethernet.
Mechanical drives allow for ~90-100 sustained read/write. Network share is
mapped/mounted on the desktop running darktable. Desktop has a couple of
SSD's.
After reading through the (very well written/laid out) user manual I was
curious on if I could use the "copy locally" feature in a different way.
I'm trying to use this workflow:
1. Select pictures I want to work on for the session
2. "Copy Locally"
3. Do all required work on pictures via the SSD cached files for
increased speed
4. "Resync Local Copy" after work is done on the film roll in question
to cleare up the space on the SSD's.
The only way I could get this to works is if darktable doesn't find the
original files. (Which is the whole point of this very nice feature).
I guess I was hoping the default behavior would be for darktable to look at
cached files, if there are some, use them instead of original files no
matter what.
TLDR; Is there any way to force darktable to use local cache files even if
original files are available? Intent would be to take advantage of faster
drives/storage (SSD's/Ram Drives) while working on a set of pictures.
Regards,
