You will need the fglrx proprietary driver to enable opencl with 
darktable. I have an older OLAND family AMD video card but opencl still 
works fine with it using fglrx. Exporting a 32-bit tiff takes 26 seconds 
without opencl and 16 seconds with opencl enabled. 8-bit images are just 
a couple of seconds. I find denoise_profile to be the biggest hog - I 
assume it is doing the most math.

Not sure how the impending introduction of the new "family" driver 
structure for the AMD drivers in linux will affect speed of operation or 
if it will at all.
