Hi everyone,

Thanks to Ed and Charlie for your suggestions.

I have to admit that I'm somewhat out of touch with networking, but I had worked out that it ought to be possible to do something with NET USE. The first problem was that, since I don't have a network connection, other than internet access, configured on the computer, I had to set the machine up as if it were networked. I did this and configured the printer to be shared, but still can't get the NET command to work; it tells me that there are no devices in the list. It is quite possible that I've done something funny in setting up my network.

I didn't know about print pooling, so have configured that. The controls were in a slightly different location than described by Geert, but the settings looked the same. Having set this up, I tried printing from DP and nothing happened. I think DP thought it had printed, since it continued to run normally, but the print job vanished into thin air.

The new printer I'm using is an HP all in one Officejet 5610. As I said before, it prints perfectly from Windows applications, as well as from DP via DOS2USB. However, it certainly doesn't seem to like the PCL print commands that I've used on earlier HP printers.

Although I have a workable solution now with DOS2USB, I would like to understand more of what's going on here.

Thanks for all help.

Cheers,

Brendan.
