Suggestion:

Run DPSpool on the host OS, having it monitor a folder that the guest OS can
write to. Send your print jobs from DP running in the guest OS to that folder,
and let DPSpool running on the host OS print them.

Since DPSpool is a 32-bit application, there's no problem running it under
32-bit or 64-bit Windows.

Ok Guys , Just don't wanna to confuse things. The First goal is to print by a
virtual machine (if possible). Then we go to the print quality. Jon , I'm using
Vmware player 3.x , but I think everything done here can be replicate in your
config. Regarding printing , DOXBOX megabuild worked fine to me. But, as I'm
having problems with keyboard mapping and ctrl-F keys which are not working, I
jumped to VMware. In vmware, CTRL-F keys are working fine but printing is not
working. By the way , My printer is USB. Normal parallel would work fine. So
I'm trying a workaround to see if I can print from Vmware to my USB print. By
what I saw in the forums is very difficult to make VMware using a DOS guest OS
to print to a USB in the host. I tried the Net use LPT1 but it did not work.
Tried a software called printfile that can work to monitor a directory and send
all files there to the printer but vmware locks down the file that it uses as a
printer output when configured to work with output to file and printfile is not
working well due this particular aspect. Now I'm testing if I can connect to
the usb printer via the virtual machine network. The most difficult part which
is setup a dos netbios network is already working but I'm still having some
problems with the netbios and the guest is not finding any resource shared on
the host. Another point is that I'm trying with Freedos and free tools , I have
another Virtual machine with MS-DOS/Windows 3.11 installed but in this case I
cannot make it available if it works. Anyway I'll continue to test with Vmware
, meanwhile if somebody has a DOXBOX config running fine pls advise.

  Rgds...

Did you use VMWare 7 for this? I bought a copy and am waiting for a
new Toshiba Prot?g? portable to arrive to install. I hope to use
Dataperfect (which I run under the old WordPerfect Office) to continue
running my patient database program. Using usb output for a printer
is a must. I've seen a usb to parallel port converter at
www.cyberguys.com <http://www.cyberguys.com/> but their support told me
it wouldn't work unless
program running it saw the virtual parallel port.
SO, hope you can figure it out -- otherwise it leaves anyone with a
new computer dead in the water.

Subject: [Dataperf] virtualization

Gentlemen , I know you are already very skilled in virtualization but
I didn't find any vmware appliance ready with DP, so I decide to build
one. It seems to be working fine, my only problem is with printing, as
I don't have a parallel print but an USB and I'm still trying to put
the appliance to print. I'm trying to redirect the LPT1 to USB via
windows but I'm not getting to much success. I tested dosbox megabuild
too but I'm having problems with CTRL-F keys. Printing is working fine
in DOXBOX after some changes in the config file. Does anybody have
success to remap the CTRL-F Keys ? Is it possible to copy the config
file and send in a msg to the list ? Regarding the vmware appliance,
as soon as I got success with the printer I'll try to let the appliance
available somewhere.
Rgds.
