Hi Ralph, I was just worried about getting DP to run in the Win 7 world. My new laptop already had the XP Mode on it, but you need to install it. I had already downloaded the XPM module from MS, when I found that I didn't need to.
After XPM installed, I opened it, and set up the desktop icons for the various databases I have in DP, and all worked fine. I didn't run Tame, and haven't seen any problems from not running it. We will see. For some reason, I had set up a desktop icon in the Win 7 mode, and lo and behold, it now ran DP in Win 7, without having to open the XPM session. Don't know why, but who am I to look a gift horse in the mouth. As a bonus, I found that my installation of Eudora 7.1 now worked in Win 7. I still use it at work and had used it at home as well. I only dibbled in linux because the old laptop had hung up at MUP.DLL in the boot process and Puppy Linux allowed me to get to the hard drive. After playing with various rescue and restore discs, I corrected whatever was the problem, but only for about 9 months. Then the problem resurfaced about 3 months ago. I had problems with Puppy, version 3.2 I think, so when I saw a notice that there was a newer version, I downloaded 5.2.8. I like it much better, but this time I have not been able to resurrect Windows, hence the new laptop. I had been working my way through my archive of DPForum messages on Win 7, when I saw the Tiger Direct ad. I don't have anything that needs the 64 bit OS, so the 32bit pro with XPM was perfect. Let us know what you come up with in the 64 bit setup. Rich At 02:02 PM 11/16/2011, you wrote: >Thanks, Rich. When I was running Linux full time, DP ran >great under dosemu (better than under DOS itself). VMWare Player is >free, by the way. So is Linuxa and dosemu. _______________________________________________ Dataperf mailing list [email protected] http://lists.dataperfect.nl/mailman/listinfo/dataperf
