Welcome, Dave,

It is encouraging to me, and perhaps to others, too, to hear of a young, newcomer to our group.  Having used DataPerfect since the late '80s (I am now at tender young age of 62), I sometimes ask myself if am I holding on to what is familiar and comfortable and not willing to embrace new tools.  Your words give me confidence.  I'm not an IT person, DBA or a programmer;  I have not done development on any other relational database.  So I have no clue as to what the terms outer/anti-joins, non-equijoins, pivots, or fuzzy correlations mean.  Still, DP allowed me to build, and run a database for my sales business.

Great to have you onboard!

Howdy all,

I just recently started using DataPerfect for some assorted personal information management (chiefly medical history), and thought that a write-up of why a 34-year-old DBA/programmer would opt for a database development platform that's nearly as old as he is might make for some interesting light reading.

Note that my site is 100% non-commercial in nature. It's just a little hobby blog running on my Raspberry Pi (Pelican works great for that purpose).

I'll try not to annoy everybody with too many beginner questions on account of being a couple decades behind the curve here. :)
