As I recall, there are
two primary ways to make dp readonly.
First, you can define a readonly password for the database and
enter using that password
Second, you can create a
menu, and use password protection on the menu items. Both are
covered in Ralph Alvy's book

Sounds like a good recipe to get started and will be in
touch if I get stuck,
Thanks Bruce,

Yes, Michael, I'd be delighted. And thanks
to both you and Dave for the experience report: I'll
likely go out and get a tablet and set this up because I
like to have DP handy
Using a web page designer is a great way to get it
going (that's how Tony and I got started on Know &
Enjoy Mexico, from his design)
- get a web page design you like
with some sample repeating data
- right click on it and "View
Source"
- eyeball it to divide it into
First Page Header, repeating Report Body, and
Final Footer sections
- copy paste the FPH and FF into
those sections of a DP report, also one
representative RB piece
- replace each sample data item in
RB with a (F4) picked database field
- run the report, open output file
in browser and see if you've got it right; if
not debug/fix/repeat

shows step 3 of this process for the sample. For a
complicated layout, you might need to printout the
page source and mark it up with pencils and
highlighters etc. Someone showed this process at the
conference in 2004 so it you have the videos...
You'll need to repeat the process so you have a page
for each panel you need, etc. Have fun, when you get
the time! And shout out if you get stuck
Best wishes,
Bruce
