Suba, I have not looked at the newer u-boot code, but it should be noted that the hardware ECC on the DM644x can generate ECCs on data reads and writes UP TO 512 bytes. In fact the device supports 256-byte page devices (which I don't think are manufactured anymore) and only generates and uses 22 bits for ECCs. That being said the boot rom of the DM644x expects the UBL data to be stored using 512-byte ECCs (if your not using the obsolete 256-byte page device). SO you might have a different format for ECCs in pages where the rom is looking for stuff and where u-boot is looking for stuff. Your UBL can do either one (or not check ECCs at all if you like to live on the edge). So the U-boot mtd stuff should be adaptable to use the DM644x hardware ECCs without too much issue.

We are now trying the uboot 1.1.6 and trying the Nand support. We are using a large Page Nand device ST Micro (2048 byte pages). The mtd in uboot1.1.6 seems to store the ECC values for every 256 byte data. But the davinci HW ECC gives us 24 bits for every read which is 512 bytes of data. Does that mean that the Davinci's HW ECC is not compatible with the way we need to store and manipulate the correct_data() function in the mtd?
