Basically, you have two options: either go for a all-64-bit system (e.g.
build 64-bit client) or build n32 client for 64-bit server. With the
first options you will need to rebuild and install 64-bit version of
Perl yourself since there is no current 64-bit binaries pre-built for
IRIX. For the second option you will need n32 Oracle client libraries
installed (this is an option of Oracle installer) and some hand-editing
of makefile plus some more tricks. I have always chosen n32 road before
and it worked very well for me, until Oracle 8.1.7 arrived. IRIX n32
executables are faster and use less memory and there is n32 version of
Perl 5.6.1 available as binary distribution for IRIX. Which Perl you are
using, n32 or 64? It is not clear from your logs. Please, issue:
perl -V
and let me see the output.
Cheers,
Ivan

I am returning this otherwise good typing paper to you because someone
has printed gibberish all over it and put your name at the top.
