Can I suggest something? The best option would be to get rid of
winblows and install the GNU/Linux operating system. It's free, unlike
winblows and you have a variety of powerful mailreaders apart from a
numerous utilities.

If you can't get rid of winblows then install cygwin (check out
http://sources.redhat.com/cygwin/). Cygwin is a *nix environment for
windows. You can use mutt or gnus. Both are excellent mailreaders, and
gnus is undoubtedly the best newsreader on the planet.
