Really? All of the perl.org lists do this, AFAICT, as well as all of the yahoogroups lists. Mailman also puts this in the headers. It's been standard in mailing list software for a while. Oh, well. It's up to the moderators to do whatever with the subscribe/unsubscribe instructions, beyond sending the instructions out with every new subscription or sending a weekly FAQ.
