I don't know what happened.

It seems that the debian repository and aptitude didn't tell each other about dbmail_2.2.5rc and that started everything into a lovely tailspin.

I had to manually download and install the packages from nfsd to get dbmail and dbmail-pgsql to understand that they were friends and supposed to play nice at 2.2.5.

It's working now.

But I've had problems in the past where the debian repository @ nfsd isn't reporting in aptitude what I'm able to see in the browser. This has prevented me from upgrades in the past as well. I've included my preferences and sources data and would really appreciate any eyes that could look for something that might be amiss. Please note that the debian.org testing branch is usually commented out and was only include herein because I was trying to upgrade to 2.2.3 in debian -testing (which also didn't go well).

I don't believe the problems have ever been directly attributed to dbmail but the debian packaging configuration that I have on this particular box. I have a preference to keep things on debian-stable as much as possible with the exception of dbmail which is currently not listed in the debian-stable branch.

Since there is no debian-stable packages for dbmail, I can go with either debian-testing or nfsd-stable, but I'm not having much luck with them from time to time. I would love to PIN these packages if I could figure out how to do that so I can upgrade at my discretion. Having the house mail server go down when the wife is expecting email about job applications makes my life pretty unbearable and rightfully so. Please help a fellow avoid these lovely moments...

Maybe the best question I can ask for now is:
how do I specify Pinning for dbmail packages?
I've tried in the past and not much luck.
I tried
Package: dbmail-pgsql
Pin: version 2.2*
Pin-Priority: 1001

I thought I could use:
Package: dbmail*
Pin: version 2.2.5*
Pin-Priority: 1001

help?
