Hi, It does work but gives overlapping speech like sometimes you hear
the same thing again rather then just the new text that is what speakup
usually does. Yes you can use orca but speakup I think gives much
better feedback. Is there a reason that the espeakup package does not
talk in Forky but orca does? Nick Gawronski

I use Orca in the terminal on a daily bases without problem.
