Dear Joey, soon after I submitted the bug report which had been troubling me for a day or so, I found out what caused the problem. There were directory names containing underscores and umlauts (created by WinXP). After deleting or renaming these directories the installation proceeded very nicely. I already emailed this information as a follow-up to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hopefully this problem can be solved so that other users don't find themself in the same kind of trouble.
