Hi Ian and all, our archive is full of packages where debian/copyright is not accurate. A lot of these errors are more grave than what was found to not be correct in the LLM-generataed reviews emailed by the DFSG team (which now only send links). In my field, there has been a mass trend of relicensing from GPL to MIT. I have already fixed dozens of our packages that have indicated GPL wrongly for years. Who is "taking responsibility" there? I understand that people object to LLMs for ethical and environmental reasons, but the claim that the quality of the LLM-generated reviews is too low, sorry, I do not agree with that. We distribute many hand-generated copyright files are far worse than that, we discussed it in the past, and we take no action on it (except from developing assistant tools to spot these problems, but this only acts when a package is uploaed). If we care about quality, the DFSG team's emails are not a priority, in my opinion. I fully support the DFSG teams's decision to share the LLM reports for those who want to read them, given that they are primarily generated for the DFSG team and not just in case someone might be interested. Apart from the frustration for lack of public answer, which I understand, I expect that the discussion in this tread is an illustration of the brokennes of communication on our lists where the more people are vocal, the more it shows that they are few. (I quickly checked if vote.debian.net could be useful to set a poll, but I have not found how to restrict it to debian members only).
