there is no need to accept the default behavior.
startpage accepts options, passed in the url, that override the
default search settings:
https://startpage.com/do/preferences.pl?language_ui=english_uk
fill out the form according to whatever behaviors you want, and then
hit the "generate URL" button. then use the url generated, when you
want that behavior.
likewise for ixquick itself:
https://ixquick.com/do/preferences.pl?language_ui=english
