As Andrei suggested, try and lower the complexity one or two steps. There is a troubleshooting guide on the MPD Wiki page: http://mpd.wikia.com/wiki/Music_Player_Daemon_HOWTO_Troubleshoot Any help from that? Once you get around connecting and controlling MPD, I'm surprised you didn't have to change anything in the audio_output section, but I can't remember whether there were working default settings. Here is my mpd.conf (audio out through either a USB DAC or through optical S/PDIF) $ egrep -v ^\s*(#|$) /etc/mpd.conf music_directory "/nfs/media" playlist_directory "/var/lib/mpd/playlists" db_file "/var/lib/mpd/tag_cache" log_file "/var/log/mpd/mpd.log" pid_file "/var/run/mpd/pid" state_file "/var/lib/mpd/state" sticker_file "/var/lib/mpd/sticker.sql" user "mpd" bind_to_address "any" auto_update "yes" input { plugin "curl" } audio_output { enabled "no" type "alsa" name "USB DAC" device "hw:3,0" mixer_type "none" } audio_output { type "alsa" name "SPDIF (optical)" device "hw:2,0" mixer_type "none" auto_resample "no" auto_channels "no" auto_format "no" use_mmap "yes" } mixer_type "disabled" buffer_before_play "20%" filesystem_charset "UTF-8" id3v1_encoding "UTF-8" -- Klaus -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
