Update: moved the SATA cable from SATA5 to SATA2. and now hdparm shows
udma6 as active mode and buffered disk reads are around 370 MB/s (90% of
Intel 530).

/dev/sdb:
 Timing cached reads:   8190 MB in  2.00 seconds = 4096.73 MB/sec
 Timing buffered disk reads: 1120 MB in  3.01 seconds = 372.54 MB/sec

In the BIOS, the SATA ports are set to IDE. Should they be set to AHCI
instead? (third option is RAID).
