My bad, TCP/IP Printing is for the LPD service and for Unix. I was thinking of something else.

With NT 4.0, that is the general rule. It even states that in the SP install.

Win2K corrected this problem.

BTW, isn’t the TCP/IP printer server only for printing through web remotely, or is that just Win2K?

Let me see if I can find it.

Subject: [Declude.JunkMail] OT: M$ Service Packs

I know that this is OT but does anyone know the correct rules for M$ Service Packs. I have an NT 4.0 box that has been running for awhile. Now I have to install a TCP/IP printer and the TCP/IP printer service is not already installed. My understanding is that after I install TCP/IP Print service from the original NT cd-rom, I'll have to reinstall service pack 6a and then all of the security and critical updates. Is this true?

Sandy? John? Scott?

Thanks and sorry for the OT.

Hank
