If a private IP was anywhere in the path the mail took, would it then
match *I  - ie the sender's IP is private - he bounces off a mail
server, etc.?
The country will be "*I" if the IP is private.

If you are filtering and use the "COUNTRY" option, then you will only match *I if the E-mail came from a private IP address. If you use the "COUNTRIES" option, then it will match if the E-mail went through a private IP (even if it was before it reached your mailserver).
