We upgraded to imail 8.03 yesterday, all was well. I come in this morning, and try running Delog to scan yesterdays logfile. It can't open. Weird, so I try to open it in notepad, get "Too large for notepad" The file is 4 GB in size!!!!! What happened? normally 20MB or so, but as of 8PM, last modified time, it was 4GB. Today's log is at the same amount currently, what do I need to do?
Is your IMail SMTP log file a normal size, or is it also a lot bigger (which would indicate an increased volume of E-mail)? If it is not larger than normal, are you using "LOGLEVEL DEBUG", which would cause that? You should normally only use the debug mode for short periods of time (and normally only when we request it, as the debug log file entries aren't designed to be interpreted without access to the source code).
You might want to try "type dec0924.log > shorter.txt", and wait 10 seconds or so, and then hit CTRL-C to stop it. That should produce a much smaller file, that you can probably open, to see what is in there. The contents of the log file will provide a lot of clues as to why it is so big.
