Since this came up, you might be aware that I have explored the idea of making my site a membership site and along with that, performing verification that a prospective member verify that they are running Declude before getting access. I've also considered charging a small fee for this as well, though I don't want to make this a topic of conversation as I have not made any decisions on what to do.

Such a site might make others feel more comfortable with sharing files, especially when it comes to things that credit points as opposed to just scoring points. I would be willing to provide a discussion board (not a listserv) for verified members to use, as well as space for sharing files by way of unique usernames and passwords tied to their memberships. Listservs are a little old-school IMO, and they lack some capabilities that are important.

I'm not so convinced though that there is enough interest in such a thing, and I'm not looking to either get rich from such an endeavor or twist anyone's arm into joining. So please state your interest or opposition if you have any. I can tell you that the site receives an average of about 20 visitors and downloads a day, with much more on the days that I post updates, and I've noted that since Scott added a link to the site, PM's have increased due to the fact that many Declude users aren't even aware of this list. I would prefer that some of the PM's be directed at this group since they tend to be more so related to a basic understanding of filtering with Declude and not necessarily what is unique to the filters (or described within the comments).

I figure that if there is a need to have a private network of mail administrators that have been verified to use Declude JunkMail, then this might be a good way to do it without creating a buddy list of sorts where the only participants are the people you already know, and the community of filter users could be leveraged for other means such as a private list.

On the other hand, it appears that from experience, there are only a handful of us that account for 90% of the participation. It might be much better if Scott would do the verification and maintain an archive privately without publishing it at Mail-Archive.com. I have doubts that a private list would survive due to the fact that most of us don't want to monitor more than a handful of discussions, and what's really needed is an archive of some sort.

begin with. Maybe it might be useful to have a conversation about
alternative uses for such a program? I'm definitely interested in
sharing some whitelists and blacklists based on the above stated
criteria, but only if we could all agree on definitions, processes, and
can be responsible. The only individual IP's that I whitelist are yours

FYI, we need to have a serious discussion not on a public forum about sharing/posting of filters and such. I am really concerned that spammers can easily get a hold of the information we talk about and use that to get around the very things we are trying to do.

I am willing to set up a private list service which would only allow members
by invite/approval for this purpose. I think Kevin or Kami or someone had
talked about this a while back but it has not gone anywhere.
