Is it safe to whitelist our internal private IP address?
Yes.
We have some fax machines which are capable of sending emails. Unfortunately they fail most of the header tests. So I want to whitelist these devices by their IP address.
While it is best to fix the problem (so the E-mail doesn't get caught as spam elsewhere), whitelisting your IPs is safe (just so long as you are not whitelisting IPs that relay mail from other sources, such as a gateway mailserver).
