Goran, I know you mentioned cost as a factor I got this yesterday and thought it was relevant to this conversation. I sitll need to find out what they mean by cross-upgrade. I think to convert my current "Imail" installation which is not ICS to "Imail Server Standalone" it is considered a cross grade.
Under IMail you can gateway an unlimited amount of domains on a 25 seat license since you have no real users accounts on the box. Your Declude subscription on such a box may only cost you $199.00 per year for this configuration. (Speculation Coming) However, in SmarterMail (Which I am not sure of) do Gateway domains count as a domain under their system? If so your Declude Subscription may end up costing you way more. Anyone running SmarterMail and Gatewaying how do the gateway domains work - do they count? FYI - for those who have not seen the prices for renewals yet. The cost of renewal of IMail Server Standalone: 25 Users-$349.00 100 Users-$495.00 250 Users-$649.00 1000 Users-$849.00 Unlimited Users-$995.00 All these are renewal prices. Here are the crossgrade prices: 25 Users-$435.00 100 Users-$620.00 250 Users-$810.00 1000 Users-$1060.00 Unlimited Users-$1245.00 The determining factor between the renewal price and the crossgrade price is whether you have already migrated to the latest version or not. By migrating over at no cost now, which you are entitled to under your current service agreement, you will already be on the latest version and therefore you would simply be renewing. (renewal price) If you stay on the Imail Professional, you will be charged the crossgrade price, because our system will still read your serial numbers as the older version. You may migrate when you are ready at :http://www.ipswitch.com/netapps/service_migration/ You will be asked the serial number and email address. This needs to be done for each service agreement separately. I got new server hardware so it is time to do it all over again. I want to incorporate an address validation gateway on the same box as my Declude system. I gateway pretty much all of my traffic and host very few domains (on the same box). Since I want all this to happen on one box I need to have two IPs both of which listen on port 25, I do not want the Declude portion to be listening on a different port. So I would either need to upgrade to IMail 8.2x since it can listen on only one IP or move to SmarterMail 3.3 as it can do the same thing. Having run IMail for a while I am obviously familiar with the product and have scripts etc that have been created for it. Having said that I am not committed to IMail. I have seen the recent thread about the thousands of messages in the declude error folder with SmarterMail. What are people having luck with? Any comments would be appreciated.
