Robert,

Let me shout a hearty "AMEN!" to that post. you have concisely stated MY
objection to the latest series of Upgrades" to Delphi.

IF I were developing with the Enterprise edition when the upgrades were
announced, I WOULD have CONSIDERED the need for the upgrade but, in all
honesty, after D7 I would have hesitated to upgrade. I now work for a
company that bought into the D8 hoopla and they have since backed off and
completely stopped developing in D8 . . . in fact, BECAUSE of that fiasco,
they are now in the process of evaluating alternatives to Delphi with an
intent to abandon Delphi.

The upgrades from D1 to D2 and on up to the D5 to D6 upgrade were
reasonable because there were features added to the Pro version that I
actually used. The D6 to D7 change was marginal. The D7 to D8 simply
offered me nothing that I couldn't get somewhere else and get better.

The entire focus seems to be on Enterprise developers instead of including
consideration of the Professional level developers . . . and that, IMHO, is
going to lead to the demise of Delphi.
