I totally agree that every Delphi-upgrade isn't worth it. I currently use
Delphi 5 and it works perfect. My next Delphi-version requires me to put up
about 6000 USD in component upgrades since some of them aren't free. Being a
one-man shop there is no way I will do that without I find a good reason.
And since I know that next upgrade after that probably also will cost about
6000 USD I don't find it a happy thought.

In the last few Delphi-polls I have wanted an IDE that can work against
different VCL-versions. That way I could take benefit of the updates of the
IDE but using an older compiler. Of course I can't use the latest features
but that's not a problem for me. So far I haven't heard of anything like it
and so far I decide to stay with Delphi 5.

Next year I have used Delphi for 10 years and it really aches that I am
seriously considering other alternatives. But I guess that the people at
Borland take their polls seriously and that they have figured out who their
market is. I highly doubt that they consider small one-man shops their
market anymore. From the time they briefly changed name to Inprise they
probably decided to focus on the bigger enterprise market.

Regards, Fredrik.
