I always think of it like this.

I don't know of any real commercial applications written in VB that are
distributed to large customer bases. Other than developer related products
like "Hotdog" (Web development application). All of the VB apps I have seen
seem to compromise in function and speed.

Look at "Maximizer" and "SalesLogix". Both are very high end sales tools
with lots of features, big user base, use client server databases and
written in Delphi.

- Maximizer (Btreive)
- SalesLogix(Interbase, MSSQL, Oracle)

If a I remember also that both have won awards in competitions where they
were against the mainstream MS Visual C++ products (I could not see any VB
product there in the competition).

So I just compare to what I see people using in the real world. Delphi is up
with MS products with it's capability but VB falls behind for real
distributed customer applications.
