If you are into building components and the IDE then the following two are essential?
(Very good? Helpful?) reading
Developing Custom Delphi 3 Components by Ray Konopka.
Hidden Paths of Delphi 3 by Ray Lischner - covers what you need to know about the IDE
that is not documented elsewhere eg - Create your own custom Forms with their own
properites etc
If you want to know more about Delphi, then I find the Debugger and tracing through
the Delphi source code the best way of finding out how Delphi and the VCL has been put
together. As for the help files, they never tell me what I want to know - always end
up going back to the source.

All the books I ever bought were pathetic. I think the Delphi help file is pretty
good. :)
Try http://developers.href.com/NEWS:BOOKS. The books suggested there also seem to be
links to books at http://www.amazon.com, which has a large section on Delphi books,
complete with on-line reviews from disgruntled and, er, gruntled readers. :) Why,
I've even put in a damning review myself.
