Interesting - I did not realise that there were any UI courses around -

Well put.

I think what is required is a return to having big 8" tape drives that
churn away   in front of a user. You don't need much UI feedback when
the user can seen, hear and feel a tape drive (or even better a big
magnetic drum) spin up. <g> On the topic of retro computing (it must be
a Friday), no one is going to complain about Y2K problems on a ZX81...
