Right on Richard. A var program is exactly what is needed - along with a
little marketing strategy from IB, but dont forget about us small guys. We
dont bother to deal with **** **** to purchase IB (or anything else for that
matter) at all. They stuff most transactions up one way or another, and As I
say the margin is so small as to have no value at all. I just point the
customers at them and let them handle the rubish. Sometimes they get so
annoyed they start looking at alternatives - but as I say, it simply isn't
worth our while to spend the time trying to get the product out of **** ****
To hard - if you have to take that sort of crap, then its worth a decent
margin.

The other alternative, is for us to buy overseas, and that is cheaper and
easier than purchasing here. Sad isn't it.

It would be interesting to see some facts on what % of IB sales are
attributable to Vars iether directly or indirectly, and what % are
attributable to Inprise/Seals Corp sales effort.

My guesse is that if you are honest, then > 50% are attributable to
Developer effort. ie The developers initiated the end users interest in IB.

Whats happening worth the Corba training Idea? If ya want to sell it, then
for sure having a few more of us using it is going to help.

Cheers,

I am trying to organise a VAR program, along with some other programs but
they
may take a few months. If there is anyone else supporting Tony's view, then
emailing Annie (GM of Inprise NZ) is a good idea - [EMAIL PROTECTED] -
and
tell her you think an Inprise InterBase VAR program would be a good idea.
