Nope, not entirely contradicting myself - it wasn't free before, and hence
had value. It is free now (well, soon), and it maintains that value it had
before.

If you want an example of low value, then look at MySQL, for example, or
most of the other OSS apps out there, with a few exceptions.

Postgress is a recient OSS thing, it was originally a University thesis, ala
the Mach Kernel - Linux was the same, but it also has a LOT of people using
it. Most of the good OSS stuff is stuff that was either commercial before,
and became open, or was done at Uni's - plus or minus a few exceptions.
