Jeez Jeremy - where have you BEEN ?? :-)

The story so far...
Once upon a time there was a fantastic little database that everyone wanted
to own, but no-one could figure out how to sell. After several owners,
fantastic reviews, delighted users, and an inexplicable lack of market
penetration, the original creators of Interbase came to an arrangement with
the current owners and will be taking control again within the next couple
of weeks. Their plan is to give the product away free and to make a living
providing support and distributions (just like Red Hat and the other linux
providers). Versions up to IB 5.6 will still be owned and licensed by
Inprise/Borland. Interbase 6.0 and above will be owned and open sourced by
Interbase Corp. (? did I get the name right Nic ?) and as soon as Inprises
legal dept. lets the two companies sign the final documents the free version
will be released for both Windows and Linux. The final verison of 6.0 is
apparently already in boxes ready to ship.

Check out http://www.interbase.com/ (the officvial site) and

Cheers,
Simon.
