Looking at applications in C# or other Visual Studio languages - you'd be
really struggling to develop database code (SQL Server et al) as efficiently as
you can with Delphi. It appears that Microsoft still haven't learned much from
Borland in respect of providing a productive environment for developing
enterprise database applications. Not only do you have to write heaps of code
but also setting properties for data-aware components (eg columns in a grid) is
still painfully slow in Visual studio (sure you can write code to do it but
that's even slower).

We've do try writing newer applications in Mickeysoft .NET but whenever we get
a database application, or a smaller scale app, then using Delphi is still the
only sensible answer in our experience (in terms of productivity).

      Hi all,

Just got this in the Firebird Yahoo Groups List. When I get a "snap" ( as
in the card game ) I start to wonder.

What are the issues people are finding now? ( see some below )

Are people writing in other languages for new projects, and using delphi
in just maintenance?

Are people ( like me ) writing apps in the Web platform now as opposed to
the Windows PC platform?

      Firebird List message:

I was wondering if anyone knows what percentage of applications thatuse
Firebird are written in Delphi?I ask because I think Delphi's general usage is
already shrinking andI feel like it is only going to continue to do so. If
Delphi doescontinue to shrink I was wondering what effect that will have
onFirebird's growth.I work on a large system with millions of lines of Delphi
code so weneed to consider where things will be in 3 to 5 years from now
whichis why I am interested. We already are having a lot of problemsgetting
support for some Delphi code we have purchased from 3rd parties.
