We do a lot of java for web and you spend a lot of time fighting the tools. VS is another story though - use it for C, C++, and C#. It cant get around the ugliness of C and C++ but it sure makes debugging more palatable. The MPI and threading support rocks. Shame we will never get that kind of support for Kylix. (We develop in VS and deploy to linux). I also have VS 98 for Fortran - you can see the imprint of Delphi all over the VS versions from 2003 onward and lots of C# feels very much more like Delphi than C++.
