I have been tied up finishing a project for the past couple of months so
have not done any more than a small app in 2007. Everything seemed fine.
Now the pressure has eased I thought I would start to install third party
components and such into 2007. But first I would add the patch that the
email from Francois Piette informed me about. No problem installing BUT,
now the code completion locks up the moment it appears and the only way
out is to close 2007, sometimes from the close program icon, other times
from Task Manager. I will not be using Delphi 2007 till this is fixed.
Maybe this cracks you up?
Delphi is supposed to be a premium product from a major software house.
Their quality control is certainly not up to that standard. It is obvious
the software is rushed out to meet financial deadlines. They could get
away with this attitude to there users till Microsoft came up with Visual
Studio. I will probably carry on using Delphi till I retire in three years
time, but I would not recommend anyone who is starting out in programming
to learn the language because with this level of competence at Borland
they are going to loose a few percent of users each time they make a
release that is not as good a D7. In my case it is not so much the cost as
the time wasted
