Hi all. Xtra has done it again. this time right over the top. If you get emails marked as [spam] from xtra be really careful about deleting them. I have accidentally deleted several and only found yesterday their filter is not working properly. I phoned their helpdesk to get it disabled entirely and they cant! They disagree that thousands of Kiwis will be accidentally deleting their emails because of incorrectly labelled subject lines. Its like talking to a brick wall - a brick wall has got the same amount of responsibility.
You might consider lodging a complaint with them for violation of privacy. By applying a spam filter to your incoming messages without your express permission they are effectively reading your mail and infringing on your privacy rights.
It's worth a crack anyway. I know they cancelled an earlier plan to implement anti-virus and anti-spam measures because of this, so I assume they've found some sort of loophole in the T&C or privacy laws.
I'll ask a friend at Xtra if it's possible to bypass the spam filters on a per-account basis. Don't count on it though... Xtra aren't exactly well known for listening to their customer's wishes, since the ones who complain are in the minority even though the rest don't realize that complaint is an option :(
