There's a link at the top left "Show your location on our map" with
instructions how to show a specific view. It's to hard to use at the
moment - when we redo the page I'm going to put in a link that changes
as the view changes.
Anyway, I suspect that Google are using legal road definitions for
their roads, which include paper roads which may currently be nothing
more that farm tracks.

I had a look at Google Maps and
its a but f***** up.
It appears that they did some
sort of automatic road detection from aerial photo's but they have
included all sorts of junk such as farm tracks and so forth. There is
even one section where they have put in medium strip, which I think is
due to a hedge.
Here is a link of Scotsman
Valley Road (where I grew up in the Waikato).
Google - F**** up
Zoomin - Pretty good but the
linking isn't very good so you'll have to pan left a bit.
Turn on Aerial photos to see the
farm tracks that Google is putting in as roads.
TUMONZ also showed the right
stuff, but I couldn't figure out how to create a link to the specific
location.
Zoomin and TUMONZ are also
showing a few farm tracks (but displayed as thin dark lines so
obviously tracks) that are on private property. Some even give the
impression that you can get from one road to another, but you would
have to climb electric fences and dodge bulls to do so. I wonder what
the point of showing them is?

Do you like the interface on the TUMONZ
Live mapplet ( www.tumonz.co.nz/mapplet.php)?
We are overhauling the whole TUMONZ interface for version 3 and using
the mapplet navigation style. One thing we have realised as TUMONZ 2
has grown - it has become difficult to use cause we just added stuff to
it all the time. We are spending a lot of time on getting the GUI right
this time so if you want to be part of the beta program, any feedback
you can provide will be welcome.
