Yes, I agree we should close on this asap. However, based on people's reply to this thread it seems that we were indeed, not all on the same page wrt what the +iCal button means.

I just spoke with Priss about this and we agreed that we should stick with PPD's original plan to only support Subscribing with Apple iCal (the app) in a first class way.

So clicking on the +iCal button means Subscribe with the app Apple iCal.

Power users who bother to read our documentation might also figure out that that same URL can be repurposed to subscribe with other CalDAV clients (e.g. Sunbird), but we won't expose that in the UI for now.

We're also going to add a 'Download tasks and events as .ics file' as an option both from the Subcribe page when previewing a share and from the Collection details when the user is logged in. (This is probably the best way we can play nice with Outlook users.) However, we don't expect to have this in 0.6., but will probably get to it shortly thereafter.

Unless someone has major objections to this, this will be our plan going forward.

Thx,

Mimi

Maybe we could have 1st order buttons for subscribing with Cosmo and

Priscilla has advocated a version of this proposal in the past.
