Ahh, to clarify, I'm referring to pre-multimedia iTunes, when it used
to be just songs.
You could easily imagine the iTunes sidebar in a faceted Chandler-
like configuring.
+ An App bar across the top: All | Music | Movies | TV Shows |
Podcasts | Radio
+ And then the Library and Playlists in the Sidebar.

I'm not sure I get the comparison. In iTunes on Windows, the
Library is not really a collection that can be selected, but just a
heading under which are listed collections of various media types:
music and movies on my disk, podcasts I'm subscribed to, internet
audio streams, etc.
