I've logged a separate bug to track this: https://
bugzilla.osafoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11448
On Mac, I've seen it under the Application menu. Under 'About
Chandler' makes most sense I think. We can put it under Help for
Windows and Linux at the top.
To clarify, the [Check] button I have there only takes you to the
Download Chandler Desktop wiki page: http://chandlerproject.org/

I responded in the bug but duplicating here:
There is no File > Upgrade... menu item. That should probably be
part of
bug 603. In any case, traditionally that kind of functionality goes
into
Help menu AFAIK, and be named "Check for upgrade...". The File menu is
also getting to be really cluttered.

Upgrade
-----
[Chandler Logo] Upgrading is now a simple 2-step process:
1. [Check] to see if
there's a new version of Chandler.
2. [Export] your data in
preparation for upgrade.
[Cancel]

This part is bug 603. I think we should automatically bring up an
upgrade check dialog a few minutes after startup, where the user
can say
if they want to automatically check for upgrades on startup. If
they do
so, upgrade check happens silently, but when there is an upgrade
available it would pop up this upgrade check dialog with the [Check]
part hidden. IMO there should also be an option to open a browser
on the
download page.
